Tunku Abdul Rahman Residence

This mansion is the home of Tunku Abdul Rahman (1903-1990) before he passed away. Bought by a new owner, the heritage residence is painstakingly restored to rediscover its beauty and quiet elegance. Tunku Abdul Rahman became the first Prime Minister of Malaysia in 1957 . The prince of Kedah who negotiated the country’s independence, is remembered as the country’s father, Bapa Malaysia. This house, built in 1929, was a fortuitous encounter during his preparation for retirement. He later bought this house and chose to spend his last years in Penang. He named this house ‘ takdir ’ , which means fate, after reflecting on the circumstances that made him bought this house. The road on which he lives was eventually renamed after him.

Tanjung Pinang Terrace

English Colonial Courtyard Terrace

A young couple, owner of a 3,000SF 3-storey terrace house requested a warm and cozy contemporary English home. The main feature of the house is a sliding glass roof courtyard which provides a brightly lit yet sheltered space for a breakfast bar looking into the dry kitchen. The space is a beautiful extension of the living room providing a cheerful and bright fluid spatial link between the three major spaces—kitchen, dining and living.  A walk-in closet was also “ carved out ” from the balcony space providing an uncluttered bedroom space together with a spacious master shower area.
